What Is Jump-In Saturday Academy?
Saturday Academy is an educational program that provides personalized 1-to-1 academic support for students in grades K-12. This one-on-one attention is something that 99% of students don’t receive but desperately need to excel. We focus on the four key academic areas: English Language Arts (ELA), Vocabulary, Writing, and Math. Additionally, we provide support for state testing. For high school and college students, we cover subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Classic and Modern Literature, Drama, Research Writing, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, U.S. History, World History, and Civics.
Is My Child the Right Age for Jump-In Saturday Academy?
At Saturday Academy, we work with students ranging from 1st grade to the college/university level. Before acceptance into the program, each student undergoes an interview and a written test to identify their weaknesses. It's ideal to begin developing skills early to achieve the best possible results.
Is Jump-In Saturday Academy an "Enrichment" or "Remedial" Program?
Saturday Academy is versatile—it can support children who are struggling and need remedial help, as well as those who are excelling and looking for enrichment. Our goal is to help all students reach their full potential and perform above their current grade level.
Why is Jump-In Saturday Academy Such an Effective Complement to My Child's Schooling?
In schools, material must be taught according to age or grade, with classes advancing as a group. However, not every student grasps every concept at the same pace. Saturday Academy tailors learning to the individual needs and abilities of each child, allowing them to progress at their own speed.
How Soon Will I See Results in My Child?
Every child progresses at their own pace—some see rapid improvement, while others take more time. We view education as a long-term process, not a quick fix. We recommend that parents keep their children enrolled for at least nine months to a year before evaluating the program's effectiveness.
What Do We Do When It Rains?
If it rains, we implement our rainy-day schedule, which includes indoor activities such as games, cooking activities, camp art projects, and movies.
Can You Discuss the Swim Program?
All swimming activities take place at the Brooklyn Sports Club Swimming Pool, just 45 minutes from our camp. Campers are bused to and from the pool. When campers begin the program, they will be tested to determine their swim level. Red Cross Swim instructors provide guidance, and two counselors will be in the pool for extra supervision. Campers receive a progress report every two weeks from their swimming instructor. If your child is participating in the swim program, they should wear a bathing suit under their clothing as swim is always the first period on swim days. Campers will use the locker rooms at the pool to change back into their camp attire. Campers will arrive at the pool by 9:45 am and return to camp at 12:00 pm.
